Dies ist der fossile Hering Clupea sardinites (Heckel). Er stellt ein lebendes Fossil dar, denn der aus derselben Gattung stammende Clupea harengus ist der heutige, allseits bekannte Speisefisch.

Alter: ca. 29 Mio. Jahre, Meletta-Schiefer, ob. Rupelium, Oligozän
Fundort: Kalibergwerk Marie-Luise, Mulhouse, Alsace/Frankreich
